Hello Michael,

I am the family historian for my family and also an amateur genealogist.
Because of this, I understand the sentimental value of family keepsakes.
A few years ago I found some old books in an abandoned farmhouse here in
southern NJ. In one of the books I found several old Christmas cards
from 1904, 1905 and 1906. One of the prettiest of the cards has the
handwritten inscription: "With pleasant happy loving thoughts of thee.
Anne H. Peirce Ave A & E 3rd St Brooklyn 1904." I will be more than
pleased to give this to the first person who can prove a direct link to
this Anne H. Peirce.

Do you know of any Peirce who is related to this lady?

	Best regards,

I was on the internet and visited the Peirce Link. I am writing because I too
am a Peirce; J. Stephen Peirce, Jr. to be exact. Our clan of Peirces was originally
in the Baltimore area and then relocated to Texas in the early 1900's. There was
Walter Perry Peirce who had 4 sons and 2 daughters. Today 3 of the sons are alive
and there are 4 grandsons.

I do not know if you are looking for more Peirces to add to the Link, if so, I can
be added.

Best wishes and it is nice to see someone spell the last name correctly.

Dear Michael: I ran across your Peirce page on internet. I might know
somewhat concerning your Peirce ancestors and can send the information
to you based on the following information if you so desire..

First though I am a devotee of the Macintosh Computer as set up for me
by my grandsons. Further I am a volunteer worker, part time, in the
Brigham Young University Family History & Genealogical Library. I have
a lot of Peirce information available in my own computer and can access
much information at the Library. If you had an appropriate Genealogy
program in your computer I could download the information and you could
import it in your computer. I think the Mormon Church's PAF (Personal
Ancestral File) program is best.

George and Ann Gayner Pearce bought land from Wm. Penn and settled in
Chester County PA in 1684. In 1716 he changed the name to Peirce. One
parcel of land became known as Peirce's Park and his house on that parcel
is now headquarters of Longwood Gardens a public place owned by the DuPonts.
I have his pedigree and several thousand descendants in my own computer.
The Peirces were Quakers and so there are extensive Quaker records in which
they can be found.

Something in your Peirce Page made me think these could be your people.

Samuel & Millie Iddings Peirce moved from Pennsylvania to Union, Miami,
Ohio in about 1811. Samuel was a second great grandson of George. 12
of their 13 children married and lived in Ohio. So there are many
descendants in that area now. I helped one descendant of Samuel and
Millie compile a large book of their descendants. That book is available
on microfilm at a Mormon Branch Library. One should be near you.

A third great grandfather of George, Robert Peirce, was my 2nd great
grandfather. He and his wife Hannah Harvey joined the Mormon Church and
came to Utah in 1847. I wrote a book about Robert & Hannah including
information on their Quaker Ancestors and descendants which is also
available at a Branch Library or I do have some extra copies.

If anything here rings a bell with respect to your line let me know.

I have long had to correct the spelling of my first name Peirce. I am
glad to find others who probably have the same experience with their
name. I am sure the actual correct spelling of Peirce is Peirce and not
Pierce or Pearce. In fact there is an ancient maritime law case

Hello Michael...wonder if we are related. I did a netscape name search
for "Peirce" and was intrigued by your "The Peirce Page." I am Sharon
Peirce Corbin. My Dad was Earl S. Peirce, Jr. and his dad Earl S.
Peirce. Grandpa was born in Bangor, Maine, son of George Peirce and
Emma Patten. He had a brother George Albert and two sisters, Christine
and Ruth. I knew Aunt Christine...she married L.D. Douglas and lived in
Vancover, Washington. Grandpa was very interested in our family
heritage. He created a family tree and there are many Michaels! The
very first name on my branch of the Peirce family tree is Michael.
Michael was born in 1615 and was scalped by Indians (so the story goes)
in 1676. Michael's son is Captain Benjamin Peirce, born in 1646,
married to Martha Adams, and died in 1730. Benjamin is buried in
Situate, Massachusettes.

I visited his gravestone and have a gravestone rubbing.
There is a "Peirce Library" is Situate, Massachusettes...a
small, lovely and quaint building. There is also a book, now out of
print (and I have a terrible xeroxed copy), called "Thirty One
Generations, A Thousand Years of Percies and Pierces from 972 to 1948,
by Barnard L. Colby, published in New London, Connecticut in 1947.

It is fascinating! There is a picture of our family emblem (Dixit et Fecit)
and the author states in the introduction, "While this volume traces the
direct line from Manfred de Percy, a Danish chieftain, born aout 972,
down to my children, it is valuable as a family record to thousands of
Pierces (however spelled) in the United States. Another Pierce may have
only to trace his line back a few generations to link with the direct
line traced herin; then he too will have a complete record from 972 to
the present. The very least that can be said for this book is that it
gives the early history of a great family with which all Pierces,
however spelled, are probably related in some way." Enough information
to pique your interest? Would enjoy hearing from you.

wondering how did you get it my dad wants to know his name is, Frank.
Which I'm sure you already know. I don't know when you looked at our page
but I have only one Senior picture on there I'll have more later. Not that
you care I just find it odd that there are others out there, because I live
in Great Falls, Montana, and no one here has there last name spelt this
way.

I always get asked are you related to the guy who owns PIERCEs Dodge
City, a car dealer ship here in town, notice the spelling. Even when I
went there to look at a car the salesperson asked my name and I even
spelled it out for him and he still asked me if I was related to him. Any
ways enough about me. I just thought I'd stop in. By the way you have a
lovely family. My dad also asked how did you get so much hair seeing how
every male on my dads side has hardly any hair? Well sorry to make it
short but it's Halloween and I gotta get ready for a party! Well please
write back I know you know how if you found us.

					Sincerely,

P.S. Sorry I don't really know much about computers so please don't ask me
